Aim:

Does the pitch allow water to enter the surface?

Method:

• When the assessor walks on the surface, does water rise to the surface or is there a squelching sound?
• Does the assessors’ footsteps leave surface indentations?
• Are there indicator plants such as Rushes?
• Is there laying water visible on the pitch surface?

Timing:

Anytime.

Effects of Incorrect Procedure:

• Poor standard pitch/s.
• Loss of play due to poor surface conditions.
• Loss of revenue.
• Poor use of resources.

Equipment:

Visual.
