Aim:

  • To create a smooth surface without consolidation.
  • Reduce weed grasses in the coverage and create a seed bed for over seeding. 

Method:

Tractor mounted Harrows pull over the surface. Try to cover the area in a different direction to play.

Timing:

Light (Flat) Harrow during the season, Spike Harrow at the end of the season.

Effects of Incorrect Procedure:

Loss of grass surface and a weak surface.

Equipment Selection:

  • Reversible chain Harrow (flat side and spike side)
  • Spike Harrow with adjustable tines.

Harrow a winter games pitch corner to corner this will help return divots to the surface.
