What are they?
- Chemicals used to slow grass plant growth, thicken swards and encourage deeper, denser rooting.
- Used on some areas of amenity managed turf to limit mowing requirements and therefor reduce maintenance costs. Sometimes used on pitch markings to slow the lines growing out, reducing over marking requirements.
How are they used?
Applied in a liquid form and sprayed onto the grass surface.
Timing:
During the growing season.
Effects of incorrect procedure:
Discoloured turf, slow turf recovery or in the worst cases a loss of the grass surface.
Equipment selection:
Tractor operated or pedestrian sprayers.
Practical tips:
