Soil (PH)

A measurement of related hydrogen ion concentration, used to express the acidity or alkalinity of soil on a scale 0-14. Below 7 is acid, 7.0 is neutral and above 7 is alkaline.

Knowing the soil pH helps you manage the soil to grow the correct grasses, make use of fertiliser and reduce pest attack

Timing of use Soil pH should be done a minimum of once a year, or if problem with grass growth and pest attack occurs.

If the soil has the wrong pH, the correct grasses for cricket will not perform at their best, fertilisers will not have an effect and pest attacks will increase.

A soil profiler or other equipment to collect a soil sample, and a sample container to send to the laboratory.

If your pH is incorrect you must alter it slowly one unit in 2/3 years. Never take a soil sample just after applying fertiliser.
