Aim
On a cylinder mower a setting bar is used to adjust the height of cut precisely.
How it’s used
Set the height of cut on the bar by adjusting the bolt to the required measurement. Free off the front roller adjusting bolts. Place the setting bar under the rear roller, hook the setting bar screw head on top of the bottom blade. Adjust the front roller, one side at a time so the setting bar is trapped by the front roller, bottom blade and rear roller. Lock up bolts and then check again.
Timing of use
Check before each operation.
Effects of incorrect procedure
If the mower is incorrectly set the grass can be damaged, the surface standard reduced and quality of presentation reduced.
Equipment needed
A bar with a large headed bolt in it that can be hooked under the bottom blade of the mower.
A tape measure.
