Aim
The aim is to set an even boundary around the pitch in use. Many standards of cricket have minimum boundaries sizes (Law 19). Also refer to your local competition rules.
What’s involved
Working on the pitch to be used; measure the boundary from the centre of the pitch. Minimum boundary is 45.72m .
Timing of use
Before each new pitch is used.
Effects of incorrect procedure
Not measuring the boundary could give an uneven outfield area and affect the scoring of the game.
Equipment needed
Tape and marking equipment. Some clubs may use a rope which is positioned to the marks.
Practical Tips
Try and give the players as big a boundary as possible allowing for their age group.
