A compact tractor is a small, lightweight, manoeuvrable hydraulic operated tractor with various different types of horse power and lift capacity to meet your organisations requirements.
Practical Tips:
- Compact tractors will typically come equipped with a 3 point linkage for rear mounted attachments and a power take off (PTO) these can be rear and/or mid tractor. They transfer the engines power to the rear or mid mounted attachment.
- Compact tractors are the work horse that offer a wealth of maintenance options, be it mowing implements, tractor mounted loaders for moving soils around, towing a trailer to transport materials, without a tractor you need dedicated equipment to carry out all these operations and more.
- Make sure to always ensure your compact tractor has turf tyres fitted to minimise turf damage and soil compaction.

Compact tractors with cutting deck
A compact tractor with a cutting deck can come with three independent mounting areas for equipment – front, mid and rear-mounted.
As you can see in the image above, it can also include a mid-mounted side ejection cutting deck. These mid mounted decks typically have 3 rotary cutting blades and come in various cutting widths.
Practical Tips:
- The height of cut can typically be adjusted from 25mm to 125mm
- The caster wheels help prevent scalping on uneven ground
- On some makes and models users simply have to drive over the deck to attach and reverse to release - making maintenance quick and easy to complete with minimal downtime when changing implements
- These machines can come with optional mulching kits and rear-mounted collection hoppers and baskets
- If you only need to cut and maintain a single pitch site or smaller areas, then a ride-on mower may be a better alternative but wont offer the flexibility a tractor does.
